Running a standalone culinary institution for nearly three decades requires a relentless balance of two things: preserving your culinary soul and executing fearless innovation. Since Anil Chetty and Vinod Kumar first opened the doors of Chetty’s Corner in 1997, our corner in Kumara Park has served as the ‘OG Adda’ of Bangalore.
As the city evolved from a quiet pensioner’s paradise into a booming global tech hub, Bangalore’s street food culture shifted dramatically. Fast-food chains corporate-scaled their operations, and VC-funded cloud kitchens began dominating delivery apps. Yet, generations of loyal foodies still flock to Serpentine Road. Why? Because we understand that true flavor comes from strict operational discipline—especially when it comes to serving authentic vegetarian and Jain street food in Bangalore.
Preserving Traditions:
What Makes a Menu 95% Jain-Friendly?
Finding genuine, high-quality vegetarian evening snacks that strictly adhere to traditional dietary guidelines can be incredibly difficult for Bangalore’s large Jain community. Many commercial kitchens cut corners, using common utensils or failing to understand the deep necessity of completely eliminating root vegetables.
At Chetty’s Corner, we don’t just offer a few token options; our entire menu layout is 95% Jain-friendly. When Anil and Vinod oversee the kitchen daily, we ensure absolute purity. From our signature deshi burgers and crispy kachoris to our specialty pizzas, we have meticulously customized our recipes so that root-vegetable-free alternatives never compromise on the rich, tangy, and spicy flavors that define traditional Indian street food.
Beyond the Potato Twister:
The Creation of the Twistana ( Raw Banana)
Innovation has always been a core pillar of our legacy. Whenever a new food concept takes off across the globe, our goal has been to bring it to our local neighborhood first.
A perfect example of this happened back in 2013. We took a massive operational risk and successfully introduced India’s very first authentic Twistato right here to the Bangalore street food scene. The spiral potato trend exploded across the city, and suddenly copycat stalls popped up on every corner trying to replicate the iconic Aloo Twister.
However, we realized our Jain customers were completely left out of this viral snack revolution. We went back to the kitchen to innovate. The result was the “Twistana”—our custom-engineered Jain Raw Banana Twister. By slicing fresh, raw green bananas into the perfect crisp spiral and dusting them with our secret spice blends, we created a legendary standalone snack. To this day, Chetty’s Corner remains the original, authoritative source for both the original Twistato and the authentic Twistana in India.
The Authentic Soul of the Bangalore Evening Adda
In an era where the food industry is becoming increasingly corporate-driven, automated review replies and faceless franchises… are replacing old-school hospitality. We refuse to let that happen to our brand. The personal involvement of Anil and Vinod ensures that the bite you take today at our shop carries the exact same authentic soul as the snacks we handed over the counter back in 1997.
Whether you are an old-timer who visited us during your college days in the late 90s, or a newcomer exploring the city’s rich culinary heritage, Chetty’s Corner remains your premier destination for the cleanest, most innovative vegetarian street food in the city.
