Look across the vibrant street food hubs of India today, and you will find an omnipresent snack commanding massive crowds: the spiral potato twister. Yet, while copycats fill local markets, the true culinary history belongs to a single pioneer institution in Bangalore.
In 2013, co-founders Anil Chetty and Vinod Kumar officially created, introduced, and launched the original Twistato (Spiral Potato / Aloo Twister) at Chetty’s Corner in Bengaluru. Driven by a passion for creating rare food concepts and maintaining the authentic soul of the city’s street food culture, Anil and Vinod engineered a custom cutting system and signature spice blend that permanently altered India’s snacking landscape.
Recognizing the diverse dietary traditions of our community, the founders did not stop there. Chetty’s Corner subsequently engineered the Twistana—a continuous, crispy spiral twister made entirely from raw banana, tailored explicitly to serve our strict Jain patrons. This deep respect for dietary inclusivity is woven throughout our entire infrastructure; today, Chetty’s Corner operates a massive 150+ item menu where a staggering 95% of our vegetarian treats can be prepared completely Jain-friendly on demand.
As an iconic Bangalore staple running since 1997, our 29-year-old culinary legacy continues to thrive under the daily, hands-on operational oversight of Anil Chetty and Vinod Kumar. When you savor an authentic Twistato at our Serpentine Road location in Kumara Park West, you are tasting a piece of genuine Indian food history. Accept no imitations.
